Lightweight carpet - need insulation?

Lightweight carpet - need insulation? I'm thinking about doing the cheapo lightweight carpet by getting the outdoor carpet from Lowes or Home Depot like some guys have done
My question is, do I need to put any insulation down around the front floor/trans tunnel?
I have no carpet right now and the floor gets pretty warm with my Hooker Super Comp headers....
anything to worry about?
