Default Going to the track for the 1st time...

I might go out next friday for the test and tune to tulsa dragway. It will be my first time at a track if i go. Any advice? It's a m6 with spec 1 clutch and 275 street tires on the rear. Other than that it's stock. I'm kind of nervous about it as I don't want to look stupid lol. Any help and advice would be appreciated. I believe the track is around 650 ft above seal level.

I'm an auto and all but I release the brake and nail the throttle right as I expect the last yellow will come on to get a decent reaction time...not wait for green

Street tires I assume? Air them down to 25#, make sure to pull AROUND the water, then back in and just get a bit on the tires, pull forward and do a burnout just long enough to smoke them, as soon as they smoke let out. When you launch the car I would rev it up to somewhere between 2500-3000 and quickly slip the clutch. Don't ride the clutch but just quickly slip it out... from there, shift fast and accurate

Whatever you do, don't just side-step the clutch because once the tires are shocked your not going to get any traction at all..

Make sure to only have a 1/4 tank of gas, and let the car cool atleast 30 min between runs if you want optimal times..

GOOD LUCK!!

Just enjoy yourself, get used to the car. Do not expect to turn the world on fire.

The right way is 5k and let if fly but considering where the car is that, it is not an option. You could ride the clutch a little but thats a sure fire way to ruin that.

Air the tires down a little, see if you can add some to the fronts to make them hard. Clean off the rear tires, do not go through the water. Bump the revs to 3ish k and quickly let off the clutch and roll in the throttle. Go WOT after the 60 foot. Then its about quick shifting.

In the end its all about.
