block off coolant lines

i went to autozone and got some vac caps but they dry rot and crack and start to leak after a few weeks...what do you guys use?

this is for the heater core lines on the waterpump

Removed the steel fittings from the pump, and welded them shut. Some people have tapped the holes and screwed in pipe plugs.

I looped mine with a hose fitting.

About 6 inches of coolant hose and 2 clamps and WHAM, problem solved!!!

I Just pulled my hvac box tonight, and am looking for the best way to do this, I think I'll just loop it then next time I take of the wp I'll weld it up.

i looped it before and had air stuck in my system and couldent burp it...and its not nearly as clean...i also have this problem with a lt1 car...any other options?

Tapping the openings, and threading in a bolt or whatever to seal it up would probably be best.

I did the same thing. Worked for a few weeks then exploded when I was driving... I ended up welding the holes shut.

Yeah, but it's a tool that you probably will only buy once in your lifetime, unless you do alot of heavy fab work.

I cut mine off just past the "hump that keeps the fitting from going any further into the WP and I put plugs in them AND welded them from the backside so that when you see it, they just look like plugs.

I had some trucks that I had to do the same thing. I armour alled them before installing.
They lasted years. I had planned to do it on a regular basis, but they never cracked on me.
I also only used distilled water?? maybe that helped??
