hey guys we put the strout window net on last night and the directions werent clear to us so we put it how we thought i wanna be sure its correct. if anyone has pics of all the pieces put in place and one with it up id appriciate it.

 

The net must be inside the roll bar. Thats about all thats required.

Heres mine, I now hope that I done it correct.

 

That tab at the top, I do believe is supposed to be in the inside of the rollbar. Bottom looks o.k., top I don't think is right.

I prefer to put the receiver on the cage & tuck it up higher so you don't hit your head or shoulder.

i have a feeling mine may not be right. i wouldnt of been oble to mount it lik that becasue of the swing outs ill try and get the pics after work my tab for the buckle is on the outside i need to move ti to the inside?

 

The entire net needs to be on the inside, all the mounts, etc.

 

lol... yeah your right.... the rod end that it swivels on needs to be inside the cage too.... everything.... everything!

 

If that be the case then how in the hell are you suppose to securly mount roll bar padding?

 

I just looked at the NHRA rule book and it did say must be mounted on the inside of the roll cage, i wonder how picky they are about it?

 

You don't put the padding where the net itself is, just put it everywhere else that you could possibly hit your head.

Use the SFI padding, 3/4 or 1 inch thick stuff that jaz or the like sells, and there' no fitmet problems. Stuff looks 10 times better then that cheap pool toy looking crap too.

I'm not making fun, I'm sorry that this hasn't been discussed before.

You need to take the bar that's on the bottom of the net, and roll it inside the bar, doesn't have to be on teh center of teh tube, just inside the tube. Putting it on the bottom side will help prevent you from backing your leg on the tabs.

The top, you need to have everything inside the top hoop bar, again not a big deal, just zing it off and reweld it in plate along the inside of the top hoop.

This way, the net will keep you inside the cage, which is it's purpose. Basicially, the net's gonna be on/in your way, and that's just the unfortunate truth.

You also want to pull the net back some, so that it's covering the back of the seat, that way it's even/behind the seat a tiny bit, (like a 1/4 inch). So it will have to come backwards abotu 2 or 3 inches, unless you have your seat way up because your seat is way forward (shorty ... had to poke a little fun )

 

It all doesn't have to be completely inside the bars, It just cant be outside of them. If It runs along the centerlines of the tube, thats completely legal.

Looking at your pictures, it looks like thats what you did. No issues with that if so.

My stuff has been from the center in for 20 years, never an issue.
They will not freak about the stuff mounted to the tube.
They will not pass anything past the bar.
Stroud makes good stuff, I have their dual cannons and love them.

ok so if center in is ok then all the pieces should be ok but the buckle tab? unless i need the net back lik jl said. also im not short im 6'4" so i might need to. also would it be better if i took the door bar off (swing outs) and made the top with the net bar the bottom so that the small bar with the tab was down with the net in?

 

Just wanted to confirm theres nothing against the rules about using a rod end on the top bar at the rear to have the net swing down when unhooked from the clasp?

 

The rod end is fine, that is how mine is set up, and I've never had a problem.
