Ahhh, the 8.99 is ANOTHER car....well, the 724rwhp is still stout for a factory longblock. Fords forged internals are no more an advantage than are our 15* heads, not to mention our (LS1) bottom ends seem to be holding up pretty well (Few 9 and alot of 10 sec stock bottom end cars are out there). Our engine configuration is light years ahead of the old fashioned SBC, our H/C motors (ported stock heads, unported stock manifold) are putting out the same or more power than many a built, aftermarket headed, aftermarket intake manifolded SBC. Wait until AFR (and other LS1 stuff comes out), 500+ rwhp stock shortblock motors will be fairly common, IMO. Ask one of the 225 Fwhp 350TPI guys what they'd give to have ~300 Rwhp stock....

I watched the black 03 go 10.50@133 at palmdale with the T76. I also watched there T88 Large frame turbo, 310 inch pushrod motor go 8.99@154 at palmdale. These are two different cars, however they both move. There shop is in Van Nuys area. The car that went 8.99 also has a Tremec in it with the 5th gear removed so there is less rotating weight in the tranny. The 8.99 car also has had the heads into my buddies shop for resurfacing many times. Usually after some of its faster runs. Anyway, these cars are fast

Stock 5.0's are not 310 inches, that is the size of the motor last I heard. It could be bigger now. Go to www.x2cmotorsports.com and you will learn all you need to know about which car is which, how fast each one goes and what the cars have in them. This should help clear up all the confusion on which car is which

they made 730 rwhp on the 76...... they haven't dynoed it with the 88, fast, intake and all the other new stuff.

It's back and bigger, better and faster than ever. We shattered the record books with the highest single power adder 03' Cobra ever (730 RWHP) and that just wasn't enough for the X2C R&D team so they went back to work and this time didn't play. Gone is the 76mm turbo in is a 88mm, gone is our sheetmetal box upper in is a new 1 piece X2C sheetmetal intake with 3.1 inch runner length, gone is the factory garret intercooler, in is a larger spearco unit, we also increased the size of the exhaust tubing(primary and secondary). The engine remains untouched internally from the factory so (the valve covers were removed for powder coating) far in our quest to push this ford beauty to the limit. Some people may say why, we say "someones gotta do it" Anyway, here it is, and in usuall X2C fashion dyno results and new track records coming soon!! Enjoy

so everyone is clear.

black car = ~725rwhp stock internal 03 cobra w/ T76 (now upgraded to T88), ~10.3x?

red car = pushrod 3xx-cid PT88, 8.99 at 154 with a Tremec.

I've been nothing short of impressed with what I've seen from the '03 Cobras... Ford did their homework on that one.

If I could do it, I'd probably jump ship and look into one myself.

The so-called stock bottom end is all forged parts mostly from after market suppliers. Not Ford.

Ya...and?

That was the smart thing to do. You call up ARP when you want high quality rod bolts right? Why settle for anything less?

If ford put the parts in the motor than it is factory. Most of the parts on every brand of car are not made by that company. Parts are contracted out. So once the forged parts are in the Cobra they are not aftermarket anymore.

If I could afford one, I'd have one also! Awesome car. There is a yellow one that has run in the high 9's with the KB blower. I hear over winter he is putting a turbo on it. Running 8's with a factory bottom end...doesn't get any better than that!

That car didn't run 8's, it ran 10's on the T-76, and hasn't had track
times yet with the new turbo. Regardless, sweet setup. Much respect
to the Ford camp for making a stock forged bottomend. Even though
I'm an all motor man, it'd be damn cool if chevy made a forged
bottom end n/a setup so us folks could put solid rollers in our stock
engines and rev to 7k+ and run with the blown fords.

Peace,

I saw the one you're talking about in a buddy's Mustang mag... Very impressive indeed.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the big turbo on it.

Guys..

That car that ran a 8.99 at 154 isnt a pushrod its a BUILT 99 or 2000 modular GT!
If you go here there is a video of the car doing a 9.3 at 161! The IMPRESSIVE thing is that this is a tremec 5 speed.!!!!http://www.x2cmotorsports.com/X2CMovies/

The X2C 03 when it runs soon will SUPRISE alot of you. Forget 8.99. They just started making the 03 fast. The 724rwhp DID NOT RUN 10.3! haha

I don't exactly classify the 03 cobra motors STOCK b/c they don't come with all FORD parts. I read somewhere that the rods are actually MANLEY pieces and I think they even have ARP bolts.
