God was with me today...
First pass, no wheelie bars and I stood the car straight up. Short shifted and brought it down real nice. Soon after the wheels came down the car broke traction so I aborted the run.
Second pass, I put the wheelie bars on with the same settings as the TR shootout. Car launched hard on the bars then pulled hard to the left. I had to get out of it and when I did, I heard the dreaded loud BANG. The car came down hard and cracked the oil pan, bent the headers...same old story. But here's what freaked me out. I finish the run at part throttle and DRIVE back to the trailer. I see oil leaking out so I go to winch it up on the trailer and the wheels would not turn! The rack mounts are broken off! How the heck did I drive back to the pits? Some things that make you go hmmmm...
So anyway, I have some welding and repairs to make before spring. The car is just making so much power, it's getting to be a hand full.
On a funny note, there was a photographer track side when I pulled the initial wheel stand right in front of him. Wonder if he soiled himself
God was definitely with me today.
