you have the adjustable alt right now? with the tensionor, 50.5 is coing to mind? I bought one but can't steer anymore one hand with it. Stock pulley was 51.5 I belive.
you have a race EWP? and dont need the belt for that too? if not buget just run it up to the tensionor , and take the PS off. you probally already now this

The BMR instructions tell you the belt length for stock and underdrive pulleys. I used the one that the instructions recommended but had to do some serious cussing to get it on there, as it was a touch on the tight side. Once on it was fine and did not bottom out the adjustment. I am running the BMR bracket with a powerbond UDP.

Here you go: http://www.bmrfabrication.com/INSTALL/AB001.pdf
The instructions do say 30.5. I ordered the gates belt with the number they have listed.

I mounted the OEM tensioner in reverse (used one bolt to hold it against the alt bracket and the interference with the alt bracket kept it from rotating)
the bmr bracket is probably a good way to go though...but this way was free
My belt was 38" long but the crank pulley was close to OEM diameter (maybe 10% UD)

I tried it the way you had it set up Fireball, but hte tensioner wasn't sitting flat and it kept throwing the blet at idle... I ended up buying the BMR one because I couldn't get the thing to line up right, as soon as I tightened the bolt the tensioner kept getting pushed to one side, never really did figure out why, just stopped fighting with it before it gave me a complex

it would NOT work that way. the belt wouldnt even touch the waterpump pulley. the belt has to wrap under (backside touching) the waterpump pulley. u have to keep the tensioner for the stock waterpump
