This topic came up when I pulled the car on the scales as a joke last weekend when at the recycling center getting rid of some stuff, with my fatass(230), 100lbs or more of tools/etc in the car, a full tank of gas, the car weighed 3680. Ive already done the usual seat delete, emissions etc but im wondering if I can go anymore without hurting anything? Im thinking a new transmission crossmember/torque arm and a tubular k-member but im afraid of bending or breaking those. I plan on cutting off the rear seat brackets and getting lightweight carpet this summer and maybe even the tubular bumper supports. Anybody DD a skinny t/a???

I'm in the middle of gutting mine. I don't DD it yearly, but in the late spring she goes on the road, and stays on the road as my main car until about October.

I've removed the carpet so far (probably won't put it back in, I dont care about it looking pretty), rear seats, trunk sound deadening, etc. I'm in the middle of striping out any extra wires I don't need, I did the CD changer, power antenna, and hatch speakers last night and got a couple pounds of wire just from that. Trunk had about 4 lbs of sound deadening as well.

race brakes and front suspension and k member, fiberglass pin-on hood, race steering wheel. those few things are pretty easy and save some good weight. i'd leave the stock carpet in as it doesnt save enough and if its driven much at all the noise is very loud.

My carpet was about 40lbs, thats a good chunk of weight

You can also get light weight carpets if you want to keep it looking stock

What Do You Mean Exactly When You Say This. Your Afraid Of Breakin Something When Doin The Swap Or Afraid The Parts Will Bend Or Break After Installed On The Car??? I Really Doubt You Will Bend Or Break Any Of These Parts.

i would leave the carpet in your daily driver, the light weight carpet is great but won't last you

Go on a good diet and excercise. Healthy and effective One of my friends used to weigh around 230-250 and he must be around 180 now. I've never seen him happier and he struggled with weight his whole life.

On my car I have taken out the: a/c, rear seats, carpet, spare jack, interior panels, fog lights, horns, no cat back (just a dumped bullet), up next is a 4" lift off hood, pro stars, plastic jegs/summit seats, bumper supports and k member. Im shootin for a 2990 race weight, I weigh 135 and the car is my daily.

Sorry, but I fully agree. I'm gutting my car, and committed to taking at least 10lbs off myself as well. Hell, why not? It makes me look better, feel better, healthier, and helps my car. Not a single downside to it!

my car has no sound deadener,radio,speakers,wiring amps antena etc etc...,no ac no heat no air bags yeah you get the idea.....

could it be daily driven??yes

would it be comfy?yes

still got leather and keyless entry.....lol

man its all a prefferance...really just what you can tolerate and what you cant....

Yeah my buddy dropped a good 75lbs. off his body to get his raceweight down lol. I'm **** about my raceweight as well but I'm the one eating 4000 calories a day and busting my *** in the gym to gain as much as I can lol. I don't DD my car but I drive around with no front bumper support, no windshield washer fluid tank, no front sway and skinnies all which are good for about 70lbs. or so off the nose. I would probaly leave the bumper support in there if I drove the car daily but with skinnies and no front sway bar I haven't ran into any issues. I don't carve corners otherwise I'd probaly end up in a ditch. I'm not sure of the climate in KY but the A/C is a good 35+ pounds or so. At times in the summer it would be nice to have I suppose but I'm more of a roll down the windows kind of person so it was a no brainer to toss that. BTW my trans crossmember weighs a few pounds more than stock but I did it to relocated the Tq. Arm off the trans so I wouldn't do it for a weight savings. A nice strong UMI K-Member I would definetly recommend however.

No AC components what so ever except part of the box that houses the heater core and thats it.
No rear seats, no carpet padding, all random foam things under the rear plastic. Anything that isnt essential to the car such as spare tire etc. EGR etc. Its pretty bare under the hood. Plus it has the the 16s and egay headers etc. Trust me. Its light.

im not sure if when i weighed my car if it was accurate, it was a 1998 camaro with no back seats/belts, front support, AC, AIR, EGR, fiberglass hood, and true duals. was 3460 with me in it and i weight 250 pounds (im a powerlifter on the way to a 600 pound bench drug free), how could that car be 3210 pounds? lol.

put the car on a set of 4 wheel scales.... some of the industrial scales have a tolerance thats accepted by the industry of like 5% or may be more.... you need to scale the car anyways and get the corner weights setup...

yeah this was on a typical dragstrip scale where you just drive on and look at the weight.

anyways anything tubular should help and keep a stock look, fiberglass hood is like 30 pounds as well
