Ahhhhh! I'm in the middle of removing that crap from my car right now as well. Originally it was just to take those extra couple ounces out, but now I'm also doing because it'll look MUCH better with all that crap gone. I'm just using a wire wheel on a cordless drill, and its coming off quickly, but flinging EVERYWHERE. The entire inside of my car is covered in yellow "snow". My clothes and shoes were full of it as well. Fun stuff...

someday when I redo the cage to a 25.x I'll probably convert to a hardtop at the same time, at that point I'll hole saw under the roof like I've seen a few people doing now. That's alot of work though for the return. Hardtop, will save a good bit though over the t top weight I think.
JL, im sure you'll be fine removing that whole panel. it is very flimsy, small gauge sheet metal.

most of the support in that area, is the tick, gauge support metal which you can see in my and BLK:UFO's pics

Could you get a pic of what's inside there, by the wheel well? I want to see the metal that's the wheel well, but so I can see what's behind that panel.... if you have the interior apart and the camera handy

I heated mine up with a little torch then wire wheeled it off. With the heat it came off a lot easier.

JL, will that fly in stock suspension classes/25.3 like the above pics? Plus it looks like you may lose the ability to mini tub it properly...

i dont think it wouldnt affect classes. its just a flat piece of sheet metal to hold the quarter midbass subs/speakers. not meant for structural integrity. now the piece behind, is part of structural integrity. its really thick gauged support frames for the quarter area. without that, the rear fenders would wrinkle all to hell. minitubbing will be just fine. just a more open area and more of the tub will be visible without that piece of sheet metal

Not sure to be honest, if it's just a piece like these guys are saying I can't see it making a difference.

I'm going to get the car minitubbed, and when that's done, I'll look at what's left in there and remove what's not needed. I think, that the arm rest pieces that these guys are removing come out to minitub anyway, and I think, that flimsey piece they're takign out is also just cut out of the way as well, but it may help support the minitub, not sure.

The mini tub and the 25.3 spec was my worry, didn't want to add the rear bars if I can leave all the rear structural pieces in place and pass the car the way it is, thanks.

i dont think it supports the minitub in anyway. it doesnt seem to support the stock tubs. all its there for is to hold speakers and something for the rearseat brackets to mount to. if people are taking out rear seat brackets, then i dont think you have nothing to worry about. that piece is alot more of a structural piece than the flat sheet stock holding the quarter speakers
