What do I need to do to make sure they dont get hard during the winter

Yeah, I let most of the air out, lay them on thier side and covered them up out in the garage.

the best way to store race tires is put them in your basement lying down on a piece of cardboard on floor and between them, they should not be stored where the temp is going to drop and stay dropped for extended period of time,ie shed or un heated area, at least thats what Goodyear says so i would imagine same for most sotf tires

They will most certainly get flat spots if you leave them on the car with the weight of the vehicle on them. I found that out this fall while starting my H/C swap. I put the rear end on jack stands and inflated them to the Max PSI. Seemed to take most of the flat spots out. I was so mad!

They only had three passes on them! As for delaying the hardening process, I`d say keep them out of extreme cold or dry heat. (like laying buy a heater or furnace.)
