Ya the hatch is not heavy, its the GLAss that really weighs a lot. SO just get some lexan and call it the day.

If you pull the interior panels off of the hatch too you will see that many of the areas are double walled. By that I mean looking from the inside of the car outwards you can see some areas that are SMC, space, and then the SMC on the outside of the car. I drew lines on those areas and plan on cutting them out. It may only save a lb, but every little bit helps and you can just stick the panels back on so no one will be able to tell.

i got the speed glass from madman. clear!! better than glasss. VHT makes spray tint for tail lights. u can tint it with that. use light coats 3 to 4 coats will do it. one can 8 bucks !

I bought mine that already had the blackout around the edge with the tint, it's not that dark, but by the rules you're not supposed to have tinted glass... so I was gonna leave it.

Last thing I want is some asshat at a race that I beat in a round complain to tech that I have illegal tint on the car, make an issue then find myself getting DQ'd for the dumbest reason you can possibly find.
