Default 6al-2 question

Don't know if this is where i should post this, if not lmk and i'll delete.
I have a question about my 6al-2, how should i hook the blue wire up to activate my 2 step? i was going to put it on my neutral safety switch but can't bc 12 volts is only applied when the ignition cylinder is all the way forward when starting. then i was going to just put a push bottom on the bottom of my clutch pedal that way when i have the clutch to the floor 2 step would engage but can do that bc when i release the clutch and go to shift the car will fall on its face bc it will cut spark as soon as i apply voltage, So my question is what are you guys doing to activate your 2 step? i was trying to figure out a way to do it without having to do anything else other than pushing the clutch down. if you can give me any kind of information that would be great.

Thanks David

why not just run a push button off the shifter ****? Then you can just press the button when you want to engage it and your hand will still be on the shifter.
