Default Shift RPM's

Had my car Dyno'd and it made 334hp.at 5500rpm's. and starts to fall off at around 5800rpm's. What would be the optimum rpm's to shift this car at (4L60E trans.) for maximum performance. Thanks

You have to look at where the RPM's drop to with the stock converter after the shift. Just cause it starts to drop off at 5800 doesnt mean you shouldnt take it to 6000-6200 to get in a better sweet spot after the shift.

Taking to 500 RPM above the peak power RPM should be the minimum.

Limiter is set at 6500 and my tune was set to shift the car at 6000. I was wondering if I was starting to lose too much power before the shift.

I set mine to shift where I get the most average hp. Figure out where your rpm's drop to after the shift and compare to your dyno graph. With my stall I only have 800 rpms to work with so I shift 400rpms past peak and that gives me the most average HP throught each gear.

Thanks for everyone's input. At least I have an idea and starting point to get max performance from my set-up.

For what it's worth, I gained two tenths in the quarter when I set my shift points off of average hp. I used to shift at 6,900 in my car and it was slowing me down. My buddy that has a dyno and has been racing for 20+ years told talked me into lowering my shift point and it really helped.
