Default unloading the tires

i am having a problem with launching the car after the new clutch. i am running stock front suspension. the car pulls the wheels a couple feet and then slams down hard and spins the tires. i am guessing i need to pick up some shocks. i am looking to buy some sa qa1's. i dont know if i need to go with the r or f series and i also am not sure of the spring rate i need. stock motor in the car so i am sure that has something to do with spring selection but i am not sure how that works. can someone school me on what i need to do here? thanks for the help.

I just put R series shocks and 275# springs on mine and it helped alot. I think the spring rate has to do with your frontend weight. My car weighs 3220 with me in it.

yeah mine is 3680. not sure what springs to go with. probably do the r series shocks just curious about the springs. when the car comes up it comes down quick and seems like it bogs.

whats your rear setup..are u on slicks or radials? If radials your blowing the wheels off because the rear chassis is unloading to fast..your getting the initial hit/plant on take off and the the shock is re bounding to fast which unload the rear..

325 mt radials and comp. eng. shocks set at 50/50. last year with a slipping clutch it was consistently 60' in the 1.50 to 1.55 range. added the clutch now it wants to just yank the front end, drop it immediately and bog.

The car is falling on it's face.. shocks will help (slow down the weight transfer) but you really need to either add mroe gear or take away a touch of traction, better to spin and run a 1.70 then to have the car do what it's doing on a 1.70, with what's happening the car is dropping so far back in the RPM range it's basicially having to start over after it falls...

More gear (4.10 out, 4.56 in) less traction (add a lb of air to the tires), slow down the weight transfer with some shocks, add more power, or remove a substantial amount of weight. 300 lb springs too, don't put the 275's on you don't have the car light enough for that yet, don't put them on until you're 3200 or less.

^^ thats what i was looking for. i was thinking bigger gear but with the 4.11 i am on the shift light in 4th going through the traps. i didnt really wanna mess with that. i will go with the 300 lb. springs and the single adjustable qa1's. what setting high or low would transfer the weight slower? the new clutch and that launch i believe was the end of my tru crap as well. spools is ordered. thanks for the help i appreciate it.

The stiffer shock settings will slow down the weight transfer, 1 being the bottom most soft position.

Start the fronts off at 4 or 5, and the rear's at about 7 or 8. Should be close. I'd ditch the airbag and get a real swaybar on the car too, that way you can adjust the preload in a much more accurate way.

I don't have an airbag. Rear shocks are competiotion engineering set at 50/50. I am running a spohn swaybar on the rear not a drag bar though.

Sorry about the airbag, I get lost when I have several threads going at once on similar topics.

The comp. engineering shocks have taken alot of people alot farther then you'd think, I wouldn't take them off quite yet, but I would get a good set on the front, to both slow the lift down and when it settles stiffen the compression. Double adjustable would be best, but if that's more then you want to deal with, strange or qa1R series would be a nice improvment.

a good set of shocks in the front... and launch the car as hard as it will take. we like to setup the M6 cars with double adjustable shocks in the front to keep the nose up during shifts and give full(or limited) weight transfer at the hit. Strange shocks are definitely the best bang for the buck for quality and performance. call or pm me for a quote and we will have the best deal guaranteed.

well so far its the spool and 4.56's. waiting to figure out what shocks i should buy. probably qa1's and the 300 lb. springs that jl recommended. are the strange shocks better and are they rebuildable as well?
