AIRC, Simpson was the supplier when Dale sr got killed @ Daytona. It was after that happened, that Bill Simpson started Impact.
I find it surprizing that Jegs hasn't notified thier fone sales people, IF this is true.. Selling that stuff, AFTER the notification, would/could put Jeggie in a tight.

Dale sr's death had nothing to do with the Simpson Seatbelts. There's alot of flack that went around after that, 99% of which wasn't true.

there was a tone of b.s but what was true is he did have a belt fail but it was due to how the belt was folded into the metal piece that holds them to the cage or the pull straps and cam lock..his belt sheared from the metal part cuting the belt on impact..

shoes and gloves 3.3/5 not 3.3
pants and jacket 3-2A/5, not 3.2A
Even the ******* neck brace-3.3

Basically my whole set up! ****!!!!!!!

A class action lawsuit is coming.... A jury will eat that **** up... Consumers buying safety products that are intentionally labeled improperly will definately chaff some asses. Congrats to anyone who has anything affected, you will get a full refund and have used it for however long without issue!

Tektrans,

3.2a/5 means it will sithstand direct fire for 5 seconds, that's what the /x means, the time it will survive, or time you have in direct fire before you will start to burn.

Belfag, I can't imagine that they didn't know about it, whoever says they didn't know about it... is playing dumb. That SFI stuff isn't anything you mess around with, they're pretty good on looking at manufacturer's tracability, etc.

It's a pretty strict ISO standard that's attached to manufacturing stuff with an SFI # that I am 100% on, so believe me this was an attempt to make some extra $, and someone got caught.

Impact, pretty much will be going out of business. Not only will they no longer be able to sell 99.9% of what they make, who in their right mind is going to trust anything they sell at this point?

Sucks to see this happen, they had alot of nice products.

I think he was ousted from simpsin racing to try to keep the company alive.... someone had to get the boot after that and Bill was the one, his company or not.

As for impact... after hearing what's been found of them, I would question Bill's reputation at this point absolutely.

Nevermind the fact that he started a safety equipment company, and called it "Impact" Something there just didn't sit well with me... that's the one thing you never want to happen when racing..... just didn't seem like a good name to pick IMO.

Keep us posted on your Monday "meeting"! Myself and 4 good racers friends all bought impact stuff at the Gatornationals last year. I liked the fit better than the others (tried Simpson and RCI) but not real happy on this BS...

They won't. Mark my words, there WILL be a lawsuit filed against these guys and it will bankrupt them. I'm amazed that SFI hasn't filed a complaint for breach of contract/false use of trademark (I assume that the SFI symbol is a registered mark).
