Default 6 speed guys with MSD 2 step

How are you guys wiring the 2 step activation into the clutch pedal? Are you using one of the factory clutch switches or adding another external switch? I hate wiring, any guidance is appreciated.

Well i mounted on the pass side and ran one wire under the pcm thru the access hole. And wired to the factory clutch switch if i not mistaken it was a 4 pin connector and it was a brown wire.

I have mine ran the exact same way..... I believe mine is a grey/black wire. I'm also running a external switch to turn it off.

Yeah i forgot what wire it was but its on the 4 pin connector. and yes everytime you depress the pedal the light should come on the msd box, and when you set the 2 step at desired rpm and floor it it studders. again cant remember think it was the Ground side of the msd box.

I see you have a 98, which do not have the four pin connecter, use the lower clutch switch and tap your 12v activation wire from the msd into the purple/white wire.

Excellent, thanks for that! Is this how you have yours and it works? So I need to tap into the purple/white wire and not the dark green wire? I'm looking at a wiring diagram of that circuit right now and it shows switched 12v coming into the purple/white wire and when the clutch switch closes it sends 12v through the dark green wire which powers the starter relay.....so according to the diagram that switch only gets 12v during start conditions?.....

I'm a little slow today, what keeps it from applying 12V everytime you hit the clutch, instead of just when you launch the car?

You are correct, so when you have your clutch pressed in the 2-step will be activated, this is how I have mine hooked up and it works great......enjoy!!

It doesn't......but think about it, when are you ever going to rev the car up to say 5-6K unless you plan on launching, if you don't plan on racing one day or just driving around the town, all you have to do is set the MSd to like 8K, which you'll never rev to anyways.

I have a switch wired in to turn it off when driving around town, But even with it active my 2-step never engauges unless you shift gears with your foot on the gas.

I tried tapping into both wires coming out of the clutch safety switch and it just wouldn't work. Ended up just removing those wires from the safety switch and splicing them together (car starts without clutch pedal pressed now). Then I ran a switched 12v source and the 2 step activation wire to the old safety switch on the clutch pedal. Works good!

I have the LNC but you dont have to go thu the firewall the get the clutch switch. I got it right on the PCM harness pin, everything is under the hood, easy hookup.

Hey Mike, Where did you buy that coiled wire? I'm putting in a 2 step the same way you are, but with a sparco steering wheel with a sparco horn button. Just need the coiled wire.

I wired mine in to my factory fog light switch. So I turn on my fog lights to arm it and then the hot wire on my brake lights is the activation. works GREAT! my car is an auto car but it would work on either application

wired mine to the lower switch.. pulled out the connector and put spade connectors on it and ran it to ground so it will only activate with it on the floor
