Default what am i doing wrong?!

this this is pretty frustrating to say the least. i swapped over from a m6 to a th400 setup... m6 best was 11.96 @ 117 1.8 60. th400 was a 12.01 @ 113 1.7ft with a inefficent converter that was slipping 10.9% and hitting the rev limiter at the 1000ft mark. so i had it tightened up and felt awesome... took it to the track last night 12.40 @ 110 1.8ft. couldnt get it to go any faster with the transbrake. only change other than converter was a switch to 28x12.50-15 et streets. i did some calculating and the converter slip is 1.57%. i will eventually be spraying the car with a 200-300hp hit of nitrous.
i just dont understand why i am going slower. lol... im about to order a custom cam and get away from these off the shelf stuff...

set up
347 ci ls1
243 heads
torquer v3 cam
th400 4000 stall(seem to flash to 3-3500rpm though)
4.10s
3120 lbs

any suggestions or what not would be greatly appreciated.

thanks...

there is definetly an issue somewhere. the torquer v3 is a nice cam choice so i wouldn't blame it on that.

8-10% slippage is about right where you want a NA motor to be at,now if your gonna spray it then you will want a real tight converter.I think your problem is the gearing in the turbo 400,its nowhere near 3.06 like the 4l60 is.Going from a M6 to a A4 you usually see a drop of 4 mph, average. So the 113 you had would of been right where it should of gone,it would of ran better with the 4l60 gearing.

well the converter was alittle to loose. so i had it tightened up. i should probably just spray it and see what happens. i just thought i would be able to stay in the 11s switching from m6 to th400, maybe of even gone a tenth or so faster...

That turbo 400 is eating horsepower and at that weight and HP level is overkill. Where are you getting your slip figures from because 1.57% seems pretty unrealistic and i'd think your shift extension figures would be awefull. With all this said it sounds like a decent setup for spray so give her a whirl.

Maybe this will help. I just recently swapped my m6 for a Th400 rmvb w/tb and a FTI 4600 stall. My best pass with the m6 was 11.75 at 118 full out race trim. I then went and ran with the th400 in warmer weather, shifting at 64 instead of 66 and with the cutout closed instead of open and it ran 11.84 at 115 and 11.87 at 115. I am going back tomorrow to try it again with a better burnout, cutout open and shift point up to 66. The weather is not the best for racing but it should help me for comparison sake. I am running a Torquer 2 and my converter is about 7% slippage. I would continue to check the basics, something else is off instead of the tranny. I think the more details you post the better help you will receive.
