Default Frount mount fuel cells..lets see them

im really thinking about going with a front mount but would like to gat some idea on where to mount it..i know the nhra rule about being outside the frame needs bars around it..even though i see lots of cells mounted on a frame rail or off to the side with out any bars..but anyways post them up..

thanks

We can do a 3 gallon in our bumper support. We have done several for members here. What size are you looking for?

I don't think steve was talking about cutting the core support. I think he was refuring to the tubular bumper supports. That would be mounted in front of the core support and bolted to the bumper supports.

Do a search for Team Anderson Racing on the internet. It is a meth injected LT motor. He put his cell in front of the core support. Its a pretty nice setup. check it out

yeah im trying not to have and put the bar in..there seems to be an up in the air thing seeing the rule states..if its out the body or frame rail it needs to have a bar around it..mine would be still in the core support but off to the side of the frame rail but within the fender area..i see alot of stangs, bus and 2nd and 1st gen camaros like that with them either on the frame rail or off to the side for the n2o systems..ive though about putting it behind the rad an infront of the motor also seeing im running a stand up rad.

You can kinda see where mine is mounted. Had to cut into the frame rail to get it to fit. The dimensions didn't look much bigger than the plastic tank I used to have but when it showed up it was huge.

If its in front or outside the rails...put the bar around it...it appears your building a X275 car that will be pretty fast...you don't want the cell to impact the wall in a mishap and spray fuel everywhere...build for safety!

Even though it probably won't help you...here's a pic of how I did mine

The required 1.25" bar runs just behind the bumper

heres the one im going to try,its a 4 gal summit one..im going to see if i can notch under the core support some and slide it sort of in it with the angled/back side of the cell and then im going to use a bfh an beat the front of the wheel well in some and it should clear..

The cell is 12"L x 10"W x 8"H an that area about 10 in gets down to 8"w so if i can gain a inch per side i should be good.As long as they are counting the fitting in the width if not then ill be screwed..lol

I believe their dimensions are of the cell itself, doesnt include mounting tabs or fittings. I have their 3gal cell, they say 8x8 and the "box" is 8x8, it was 10" wide with the tabs and about 9" deep including the fittings...

Advantages
1. simplied and lighter plumbing
2. fuel pumps are gravity fed...cell in the back = fighting G-forces
3. if running a mechanical fuel pump (belt drive) then long run (from cell to pump) can be hard to prime.

Disadvantages
1. Available Space
2. More heat gets to fuel
3. Need for additional crash protection (if outside of frame rails)

yep fuel pumps work less hard..its cheaper to do the fuel system and everything is right in one spot so its easier to check an look over to make sure stuff is good an no leaks.

yeah i just realized if i ran that one i cant run a down bars so im going to get there 5 gal vert one and mount it right behind the rad an then run the pump on the rail with a Y for the outlet and then my 2 regs

setup will sort of be like this..for where ill mount it

Very cool and thats what I was thinking about this setup, but damn it looks very hard to install this in the front of the radiator/front end?
