Default AC Delete legal

What gauge steal do I need to be legal? Never even thought about it until I saw BMR's state that it was NHRA legal
Thanks
Jay

There is a legal rule, I think it's .024, not sure if that's alum or steel though. Honestly, it's a safety thing in case there's an engine bay fire, but on the other side I have never seen a car not pass tech for that.

Each car in competition must be equipped with a minimum .032-
inch aluminum or .024-inch steel firewall, extending from side to
side of the body and from the top of the engine compartment’s
upper seal (hood, cowl, or deck) to the bottom of the floor and/or
bellypan.

ok .024 is for steel, I remember that being noe of the thickness's required.

Thank's for clarifying that.... (I don't have my rule book in front of me)

Can anyone list the companies that make these plates? I just want a plain plate, not something with a company's name etched into it.

In that case, do what I did... cardboard sheet, trace out what's needed and then just transfer it over to a piece of sheet metal. Drill/cut as needed, small bead of silicone so it seals good when screwed on, and call it a day.

I cut the ring inside the engine bay off with the spot weld cutter and used the ring for a template to cut a .032 plate. It came out pretty good IMHO

I wanted to leave mine removable, should I have the need to take it out. I am also going to use it as a wire board, and wire the car and attach everything to the hvac delete plate.

This is what I did on the Nova, relocates everything inside the car and cleans up the firewall a bunch!

Local guy Derrek King,I have known him for years. He painted my hood also.
I mounted my fuse block on the other side of the panel. I will mount the computer inside also after I switch to BS3. Hopefully this winter.
