Default Best PSI for drag radials and launch RPM

i go to the track today and just picked up my first set of drag radials. i need to know the best psi to run them at on the track. i have stock 10 bolt with 3.42 gears and a six speed. i would like my rear end to live through the night, but would like some good times. what is the best launch RPM @ what psi for 275/40 17 drag radials?

18 PSI and if u want to let your rear live for the ride home i would say 1500-2000 and go from there.

Start with around 22 and go down from there, and like (blk/slvr02ss) hope your rearend holds up if you feel any wheel hopping let out . . I usually run around 20psi on my car and yes you can run on the street with that air in them just dont forget to put more back in later.

Good luck at the track

I suggest starting out around 20 psi. My car hooked best @ 18 psi when I had MT ET Street radials (275/40-17).

Cars are different, combos are different, tracks are different.

Ive found its best to start at about 20 psi and slowly work your way down, id say no lower than 16-17psi. Try launching there, if it spins, lower rpm, if the motor boggs then launch higher.

i ran about 19 and seamed to work pretty good. ran a 8.4 @85mph but 60' was 2.1. still think i should be running a 1.8-1.7 60' and in the low 8-high 7's.
Launch RPM was 2200

i dont think high 7s are something to think about with stock gear and no real power adder. when i went 8.4 @ 83 in the 1/8th i went 12.7, but i only had headers and nitto dr.s

like the other thread you need to get your 60s down and thatll make a ton of difference. I ran my nittos @ 18lbs and came out around 3500RPM and worked like a charm with stock suspension. My mickeys i ran down to 16

Great response here!

Remember if you start going hard after better 60 foots, eventually you'll find the weak link in your drivetrain (rear end usually takes the cake here). Try working in small steps and you'll get the big picture on what works and what doesn't. Learning while you get to make the runs is a cool thing!

Here's my 2 cents.

I run 24 psi. Best for me due to my concern for all the tail wiggle going down the track with less psi. I've run as low at 19, did my 4 second burnout give or take and my 60 wasn't any better. However the INSTABILITY above 80 mph was so bad I almost let out. Then comparing slips my Trap speed suffered.

Like others mentioned though, do some experimenting at different psi and different RPM launches.

You are going for fun right, not looking for any new personal bests?

GEARS! i was going 7.8-8.0 with full exhaust, DRs and 4.10s. I took nearly .5 off of my 1/8th mile time with my 410s. that and about .7-1.0 off of my 60'
