Default best stall for a h/c/i 383 4.10 gear

28" tall tire with a 4l60e and over 200 shot of spray. will need it to work great on spray but good on n/a. Im thinking of a 3600, is this right?

I am thinking a Nitrous Specific Converter (with all the appropriate modifications) Stalled to 4k Max.

On a side note, I see that 4L60e not lasting very long. So I throw out there the thought of not spending big $$$ on a good converter to only contaminate it when you puke the trans.

Regardless if who make the trans.

Its a performabuilt trans and It will handle this setup pretty well IMO. It did last year, the only thing now is the spray is a bigger shot and a new rearend. ALso I know I need a antiballoon converter and 4k tops.

damn that sounds like a really stout setup. i'm wanting to do something similar to that but i have a th-400 ready to drop in. I think i'm headed with a higher stall though, more like 4500+ but it's a drag car only. I'd think a 4k stall would be awesome for you.

need cam specs. you have to match your stall to your cam and gears.

The one thing people who regularly push 4L60e's to the absolute limits are one of 2 things. Either they always have an extra trans set aside when it does break, or they are getting them constantly rebuilt.

Depending on the Passes, Power, and if Applicable Street Miles, these transmissions need matience.

Even TH-400's or Powerglides, or hell even Valve Springs have matience intervals. Just a FYI incase you blow the load on a 'verter from Circle D or Yank.

I would be PMing them.

depending on cam and shift point, i would think you would want to flash to at least 4500 on the spray and 4000 off the spray

Chance makes a good converter I agree with that, best out there, I don't know about that... for a 3000 hp application I agree with that, but for something in the range you're playing, I don't think you have to have a chance converter in the car to have it run right.

3000 stall for a 4l60. 3600 might be too much and inefficient. I had a 3500 loosened to 4000 and the rpm's went up 1000 with spray between the gears. I run a 3000 stall in my 700R4 and it is really tight. Tranny is fully built with the addition of the sonnax billet servo, .570 pressure valve which I installed last year and 4th gear holds very well in the 1/4. The key to making these trannys last is pressure. I have yet to blow one up. I've had mine for 7 years, with one fresh up for the 3-4 clutch pack. With a 125 shot I've gained 11mph in the 1/8th so far, but I'm running a nitrous cam. I would recommend running a lot of compression if you want to be fast N/A. I lowered my compression from 12.5 to 10.7 and the car is a dog N/A.
