Default 9" Housing Questions

http://www.moserengineering.com/othe...lip-axles.html

I posted this in the gears & axles thread but got no responces.

I'm narrowing a 9'' rear for a 2002 Firebird Drag car project. Is this the end i need to be able to use with the factory disc brakes (link above) ? Any tips on swapping all the brackets over would be appreciated.I have the Currie torque arm bracket ordered.I have narrowed rears before but not this type. The car has Wolf mini tubs in it allready, from what i have read the way to go is 3'' off each side and run a 15x10 wheel with 5'' backspace and this should clear a 29x10.50x15 slick. Correct me if i'm wrong, Thanks

your link don't work, but you need small gm ends (they have several designs availabe depending on what bearing you want to use). why do you want to use OEM brakes on a drag car?

I think you can pull the tire in further. I run 3.75 off each side on mine and use big ford ends which have a narrower axle stickout...with the axles, my rear is effectively narrowed 4.2" I run a 5" BS and a 315 DR which is pretty big. My tires are very close to the LCAs but they fit in the wheel wells and can drop pretty low. If I remember, I'll get a brake hub to brake hub measurement on my rear tonight.

here is a pic

They are part #7900, just wanted to be sure before i ordered them. The reason is i allready have 1 drag car and i am trying to build this one for my son and save as much money as i can in the process. Pics would be good, Thanks. Also, thats a bad *** looking car you have.

there is a drawing of the end on that link...just verify your center to center of the housing holes of the OEM rear to verify...but I'm pretty sure thats what you want

Called Moser and talked to them about it, glad i did. The part # is 7900FM, they are cut a little deeper to allow the caliper bracket to fit flush against the housing end. Fireball, if you done it again would you go 3 1/2'' on each side to allow a little more clearance on the LCA ? Did you use the offset control arms ?

no...I would've done the same...I wanted the tire inside the quarter panel... I cut off my LCA brackets and shock mounts and relocated them on the rear for more clearance.

Yes...I use wolfe offset arms.
