Default Convo Pro wheel question......

I am looking to buy some Convo pros from this guy on here and I have a couple of questions before I send the money.
The rear wheels are 7" wide but I want to run atleast a 10" wide slick. Can I do that on a 7" wide wheel?
He says that with convo pros, you cant get a wheel any wider than 7" because they will hang out the sides.

Anyone have any info on this? Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

The approved rim range for race tires is the tread width plus or minus 1.

10" tread = 9 to 11 inch rim.

10'' needs a 7.5 -9.5 which is a 275/50/15 or a 275/60/15.

U can go w/ a M/T ET Street Radial in a 235/60/15 which is 8'' wide and 26'' tall or a 255/60/15 which is 8.8'' wide and 27'' tall.

7.5 inch rim is way too narrow for a 10" slick. Look here:

Ok cool. Now I just have to figure out what size wheel I need. I want some convo pros and I want a 10" slick so I need a 9" or a 10" wide rim. What would the backspacing on them be?

Thats what I need in order for it to fit my car? Also I have LT1 style brakes on the rear. Does that make a difference in the backspacing?

Convo Pro's really dont have the right back spacing for our cars.U want most of the rim under the car.there 15x9 has a 6.5 back spacing but they might stick out a 1/2 inch but that would be the best Convo Pro for the rear and u wont have a problem w/ LT-1 rear brakes.

Yea, I think im gonna have a change in wheel choice. I dont want the wheels to stick out at all but I really want to run a 28" x 10" or 10.5" tire. Oh well. I will just settle for some pro stars or something. Thanks for the help!

Well with pro stars you will need to grind and grind A LOT off the calipers to clear them. Its a HUGE PITA.

The reason why you need enough rim is to spread out the contact patch evenly otherwise you will have a mushroomed tire.

I dont have a problem grinding the calipers down so they will clear. So the guy that was trying to sell me the convo pros was telling me that they would be fine. He said "no one else I talked to knew what they were talkin about" LOL. He wouldnt leave me alone about it, he was raping my inbox by shoving unwanted messages in it.... Anyway I think I'm gonna go with the 15 X 10 7.5-BS pro stars and do some grinding. I really want a 28 x 10" wide tire on it. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it. Yall are awesome.

Ok I looked at some of your car. I see what youre talking about. If youre wheels stuck out any more then they would be outside the car. So 8.5 BS will do me right. Got it. What size tire is on your car?
