Actually... Do the calculators factor tire growth? That's something I need to know...

I was wondering the same thing, I doubt it.

How much does a slick grow at 120ish?

Nah the claculators won't factor in tire growth. It's just using the numbers you punch in. You could obviously add how much you think the tire is gonna grow and be pretty close on the calculation.

Magnet, how many miles does your car have on it? Also what kind of mph are you expecting when you're done with the build?

Call the manufacturer. They will tell you over the phone.

I think it was 61-6200 but that was on radials. Calculator says it should have been ~5900.

If you're using the stock tach then that could be your problem.

No they don't, unfortunately but like said the manufacture can let you know. Unfortunately the tire does not grow approx 1" after the 60 foot mark, it depends on the speed at which it starts to grow.

Using a quality Tachometer or a good datalogging file will be a big benefit. IMO you can do just fine with a decent shift light and programming to where you want to make the shift. If you know your max RPM and where you want to shift (by data logging and taking in track data), you can basically live on the shift light.

Either way wont hurt you but it is weight and you save a few $$$ comparatively

I was going off my logs, I usually shut it down right at 6400 so I was just guessing I crossed the line close to 6200.

It's gonna take a pretty good bit to get to 10's, NSSANE02 is doing pretty good to get to that number.

Complacency is what keeps people slow.. just because mid 11's is pretty good doesn't mean I can't do better...

The numbers are the numbers... I should be able to pick up atleast 2mph from weather and 2 from dropping weight.. so that might give you an indication of where I think I'm going... with that mph all it takes is a good clean run and im right at my goals..

I agree i picked up about 2 mph from one night when it got really cold out and maybe two .10's. a low 1.4 60 ft is what i am guessing it will take to get into the 10's plus every bolt on you can get at somewhere around a 3100 pound raceweight. I think a m12 will help you a little bit, not really sure if mine is helping me that much. I did pull a 1.57 60ft at around 3550 tho dropping it at 6400.

Pickin up mph from weight will depend on how much you drop, you know that of course lol, i think you could get 2mph.

And your car already runs good from the time and mph you posted.

You'll no doubt be very fast when you finish your mods but I think you might be slightly underestimating how hard it's going to be to drop down to the 10's, that's over a full second which is a huge gap when you consider you won't be gaining much more power at all.

I was pretty close to your setup about 2 years ago, still had the 10-bolt, stock gears, running on 17" dr's (but my 60' wasn't much better than yours), with about a 3550 RW. At the time I was running consistant 11.9's at 115. Then after all I've done since then I've only dropped a half second... could be slightly due to weather since there was about 1000' difference in the DA, but still.

I'm not at all saying you can't do it, I'm sure you will eventually. I just think it's going to be a lot more difficult than you think.

You might want to look at going a little more aggressive on the tune also. I dropped almost 2 tenths by switching to my tune from one I had done by a "pro" tuner around my area...

Oh I know 10s are going to be nearly impossible, and basically aren't attainable this year. 10s are my ultimate goal but unless money goes better than I think, I won't be putting enough into it to get 10s this season.

However, mid to low 11s this season or bust! And I don't think there us any reason that's not attainable... The only thing I look at from my runs is DA, raceweight and MPH and all that points to it not being far off...

You want to let me take a look at your hpt file? I don't have a wideband, and haven't had any kind of professional tune or even been on a dyno for that matter.. Its basically stock tune now.
