Do you have a temp gun? If so let the car get up to temp and start shooting different spots on the radiator if the water wetter doesn't help it, see if there's a part that isn't getting as hot. That would tell me you have a blockage.... in that case, get the thing flushed out.

You're sending the coolant through the radiator too fast. You already said you have no issues at idle which is more difficult to cool then when moving due to airflow. Put a thermostat in. You're not giving the radiator enough time to cool the fluid that passes through.

I would have to agree on the flow not being correct if you can cool it setting still which is much harder to do then moving.

Also could be the tune up on the motor is it carb or fuel injected?

How much timing are you running?

The engine has a carb. I believe we set it at either 34 or 37. I just did it and I can't remember.

On a hunch I called Meziere to ask about the water pump and they told me I'm not running a large enough pump. I have the 35gpm the suggest the 55gpm pump for the street.

Who's running an electric pump here and how big is it?

Thanks for the help guys,

~Jim~

maybe the 35 gpm is enough just idling, but not enough driving on the street.

I bet the car would build some heat with a big stall.

I bit the bullet and ordered the 55gpm pump. It'll be here tomorrow Hopefully that solves my problem.

I'll let you guys know.

I would be very interested to know what it does...so yes - please keep us posted. I am still not having luck with mine - driving me crazy!

It isn't eating any water...so I know that it has to be just a cooling system issue. Starting to really **** me off.

The bigger pump and water wetter did not help any.

I moved my tranny cooler to a different spot and I'm hoping that the extra surface area of the radiator exposed will help out. As it is I can start driving it and enjoying it though.

Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

I have not gotten to test it with the tranny cooler out of the way yet. I have to get new fittings and shorten the current lines first. I'll test it out tonight when I get off of work.

As "Firehawk44" said the flow through the system needs to be slowed. You have to have a thermostat or a restrictor. The water needs to slow down through the radiator long enough to cool before being routed back through the motor!

I got it fixed. The radiator just was not getting enough flow with the trans cooler up front. I relocated the trans cooler with a fan and the car runs a nice 165 -180 at a cruise.

Thanks for the help guys.
