Strangley enough, The first US Nats I went to was also the first year for Pro Stock Bikes. It was unfortunate that one of them lost their life. that said, there were actually three deaths that year, One PS Bike, One Cameraman from Diamond P sports and another a spectator in the VIP section who fell back on a power line too close to the stands. Stay safe and God bless!
On the upside I was a VIP and met Wally Parks, hung out with him for a bit and spent the weekend in Gordy Bonin's trailer drinking. LOL...got myself a Don Prudhomme team jacket and had the honor of passing the rag from Don to Tom McEwen.
I'll never forget that weekend. Sorry...Waxing nostalgic.

If anyone is interested. Eddie took round one of eliminations...
(W) Eddie Krawiec (Screamin' Eagle/Vance & Hine 0.098 6.975 189.04
(L) Douglas Horne (Horne Racing Buell) 0.021 7.106 185.18
Krawiec is 7-1 against Horne, but Horne's only win against Krawiec came in their only other round one pairing, last year at this event.
Horne tried to make it two years in a row with a big starting line advantage, but Krawiec caught him by half track and pulled away for the win. However, Krawiec won't have lane choice when he meets Matt Smith in round two.
