Default Pics of rollbar install

thought Id post some pictures of my rollbar install. It sure will be easy to detail the car at this point. I cut the window so i can do the walbro intank fuel pump upgrade.

got the carpet back down just have the seats and seat belts left. these pictures show the swingout drivers bar and the rear bar is removed. I included a picture of the underside plates. I used seam sealer (seam sealer is what GM uses where the body panels meet)to give the plates a flat surface and keep the water and dirt out. After i paint it (it is paintable) I think it will look very good.

Very nice pictures. You did a great job in the install. The silicone around the base plates is a great idea!!!!!!!!

VERY nice looking install. I'm getting close to installing a roll bar as well. Is that the wolfe bolt in that you are using? I've never seen a picture of the access hole cut for the fuel pump access, i think i will do that as well. Did you have to drop the tank to bolt the rear bars down? Again VERY nice install, i think i will save the pics if you don't mind for when i get ready to do mine.

Looks great! I've always wondered if the bolt-in bar was NHRA legal?

Was gonna post some pics of the bar I just finished and saw this thread... Looks like my car did. I dont know if I want to do all that agian, good little job stripping everything out & putting it all back in.

Yours looks good. May go back and seal the under plates like that with some seam sealer, didnt think of it at the time.

I'm very happy with the Wolfe bar & the quality also. Got the chrome-moly bolt-in bar with the welded cross bar & then I TIG welded the two rear down bars to the main hoop, which from what I understand and have been told and the way I read the rulebook (which may not be right... lol) it is NHRA legal as long as those bars are welded to the main hoop... or should be legal... maybe... hopefully, but you never know with some of the Tech guys at some of the tracks.

bad2000ss and tallytransam: I welded the back bars down so I wouldnt have to drop the gas tank.
orange99Z: the bolt ins can be made to be legal.
sabastionlopezjr: your right about welding the back bars to the main hoop. Also my bar is not actualy NHRA legal because I got the removable rear bar. Im going to put some padding on the bar and i will cover the areas that have the bolts and hope for the best.

Looks very clean, nice work!

Only question is why cut the window above the fuel tank rather than droping the tank? I would personally think that gas fumes would be filling the car constantly.

Its a pain in the a$$ to drop the tank. this will give me easy access for any future pump proplems or modifications. I have a stainless steel plate that will cover the hole and seal off the engine compartment.

coach: thanks for the kind words

looks good i got a chromoly 5 point on the way as well.. did you order yours during their group purchase ? i got in on the last day.

if you want it 'legal' you have to wekd the rear bars and backseat bar to the hoop.

Looks good. I had my rollbar built from scratch by a local fabricator and welder. Cost me about $750 with removel and replacement of interior. Welded in, unpainted.

I went custom because I have long legs, and didnt want to be squashed against the dash board.

Good install, good pics!
