Default Rear Shock Damage - Anyone?

anyone damage a rear aftermarket shock due to insufficient clearance from the rear end?

many have damaged the adjuster ***** on QA1, Strange etc....true solution is to get rid of the single shear factory stud and weld tabs on that put the lower mounting bolt in a parallel position to the housing.

Ya i bent the **** on my stranges when i took it off the lift but quickly relized it and was able to take the **** off and straighten it back out on side was worse where the detent ball was covered by a piece of aluminum bur from when it hit i was able to carefully take care of it and then welded on madman shock reloc brackets

I welded my tabs on a few weeks back. seems the backside of the shock body still sits pretty close to the rear end. Just wondering how much it's going to rub when the pinion is moving up and down under accel/decel.

Nope, everything is fine. I know JL had a Moser Rear, Single Adj QA1's on a Wolfe Bar and NEVER had a rubbing or hitting issue.

mark where the shock's body is closest to the rearend housing w/ a sharpie, then pull the shock off, and grind a radius in the shock mount on the rear end to keep it from binding. That should be a quick fix, if i'm understanding you correctly.
