I think I'm in agreement. I'm gonna save that $1500, spend an add'l $1700 and get an aluminum block instead.

Weight wise that's a GOOD move. That cowl, if you notch it out to the firewall will let ya get the distributor out, just need the 5 inch vfn hood to cover the opening, which you'll need anyway to give the carb enough room to breathe.

How did that whole situation with the motor work out? Any word back from the guy?

Thanks man. Yeah for what I want to do with the car the BBC/nitrous route is the most practical and affordable.
