Default debating if going from 3.73 to 4.11 will be worth it??

Finally got my car down the strip and think I am going to stay NA. So, I am debating if I should swap out my 3.73s for the 4.11's that I have. Here is what it ran:

11.65 @ 116.5
1.63 60'

Car is 2000 Z28, 3800# race weight, Peak HP is 6300 rpm, Cam only 6.0L.
SS3600 yank, 12 bolt. 26 x 11.5 16 ET Street rears. It looks like I go through the traps around 5300 rpm, so not in my power range.... Still running a good number for what it is, but if it will come out harder and drop a couple tenths, then might be worth it to do the swap.

I have 4.10's from when the car was a m6 that i could put back. Just not sure if it will be worth anything or not. If only a tenth, then I will keep as is and keep the rpms down when cruising the highway......

Anybody have an opinion as to if it would benefit me and if so, by how much? anybody else do this?

Thanks!

I doubt it will drop more than a tenth. 3.73s to 4.11s is a pretty small step.

I can understand wanting to match the power range and all, but honestly for what you're putting down it's possible that you hurt yourself top end with the trap.

But...since you already have the 4.10s...well if you can knock out the swap pretty quickly then it wouldn't be a bad idea to experiment. At least it would just be time sacrificed and not money.

I'd say .5-1 tenth, and 1-2 MPH.

I'd do some weight reduction first.

Gearing is most times always worth it.

Especially if you ever decide/need to go to a taller tire. Increasing the overall diameter will effectivly knock down the final ratio and for some cars that does not work.

I say go for it.

i'd say you need atleast 4.10 gears if you are N/A.

get that 60' way down... waaay down and you'll see big improvements.

a 2step and some double adjustable shocks will really help with that 6speed.

It sounds like the OP changed this car from an m6 to an auto. No offense. I think the change won't be worth it unless you change the tires as well.

You easiest option to figure out what it would be worth would be find a smaller set of tires.
When I went from 30 or 31 tall street tire to my 28" slicks it effectivly made my gear a 4.11 from the stock 3.73. I don't believe it made much of a differance.

yep, car was m6 with 4.11, then went 3.73 because 4.11 was too much for road racing..... too much up and down shifting just at the end of a corner. Was way smoother with 3.73 and shaved time off my lap times.

Since this car got retired from the AX stuff, and my track ***** car came with an A4, it worked out to swap trans's bewteen cars. Less likely to break stuff on the strip with a4 vs m6 too. I plan to go back to the track and data log the run to see where it actually is in the rpms going through the traps. As for weight reduction..... this thing is more of a go to cruise nights and fun street car than a race car. I plan to keep all the creature cumforts.... AC, Stereo, carpet.... IF I hit it with a 100 shot, it should run high 10's and would definitely need to keep the 3.73s. That is the main reason I went with the ss3600 vs the ss4000. Still kind of wishing I would have went ss4000 though..... ohwell. I got what I got. I may talk to yank and see if I should loosen this converter up at all. Over the winter I will figure out what I am going to do to get my skinnies to fit..... adaptors or change out the C5 brakes to the other car and put stockers back on this one?????
