Gateway raceway rumors i heard rumor that gatway raceway drag track id reopening under new management...it is the only track near my area and i pray these rumors are true has anyone heard of this
what i heard was from my buddys dad who knows one of 3 investors who are reopening just the drag track not the circle track???? if anyone has heard anthing just let me know

i have heard just about every rumor there is, the MAR park has not even broken ground yet and that was planned about 3 months ago. If a racer actually bought GIR it would be a much better facility and atmosphere but it was becoming too corporate.
I have heard there is some potential interest but there are many hurdles to get through to get it done. I guess we will have to wait and see how it pans out, there are alot of race car builders with vested interests in that facility. St. Louis is loaded with top name chassis builders. ADRL is rooted here also which should help motivate interested parties, I would think they would like to have an event in their home town.

Rumor mill is spinning again. I know some people that use to work at Gateway and I was told that they were just called back to work. I'm not sure who has purchased it, but rumor has it that the dragstrip will be reopening July 20th I believe.

I hope it opens back up. I moved down here for work and learned it was closed. Yes I only have a 6 cylinder but if I can take it to the track a few times to help encourage the 6 cylinder to give out I'd have a great reason to start my build sooner then later.
They definitely do under most circumstances. Where Gateway had it's problems was they had taken out grants to build it, and they were to be paid off in 10 years. What I have heard is they weren't and now the property tax on the land must include the governments share to be reimbursed. Property taxes are now in the 7 figure range for whoever owns that land, and that is hard to over come and still remain profitable.
