I am running a 17X11 with 4.5 backspace. With my wheels and tires under the car, mine was 58 inches from back of wheel to back of wheel. That is how all the places I have dealt with narrowing a rearend work.

And when I say back of wheel to back of wheel I mean where it bolts to the axle.

Why narrow your rear & minitub? I'm running 15x10 prostars with a 275 60 15 radial (M/T, Goodyear, & as of today Hoosiers) and haven't had any rubbing issues. If you wanna go with a 325 without beating it up with a mini sledge wouldn't just a set of mini tubs work fine? I know he said he's running a 4" back spacing but we all know that 7" with a stock width rear end would work.

right I am 56" from back of the wheel to back of the wheel ...I have the wheels bolted to a set of axles that I turned down and have a piece 0f moly tubing holding them together ...so 56" flange to flange ...and stock is 64.75 flange to flange ...8.75 difference ..so i figure I need to go 4.5 a side or technically 4.375 a side ...the car is sitting over the widest portion of a 325 drag radial in the pic ...it will be a inch or so higher at true ride height ...and also will be running 275's...

I hear what you're saying. I went with a 15x12 with a 5 inch backspace.. some ****'s gonna get moved to make that work But I'm in the same boat. Had 15x10 with a 7 inch bs on the car, and I never cared for that, I like the tire inside the wheel well, inside the fender, so I will be doing what has to be done to make that happen.

30 in slick going on too, which makes the need a little greater to pull it in, so the wheel well doesn't need to be opened up, at least it shouldn't.

We will see, once I finally get it into the fab guru.

Dave,

Thanks for the update.
Your work is excellent!

With the axles installed what is the dimension of the axle flange to axle flange?

Did you use the "blue" disc to clean the housing?
What kind of disc is it?

Very nice welds. Did you tig or mig them?

Mike

Flange to Flange was 64 3/4 ... we removed 8 3/4 ...so it should be right at 56" I did the back brace ...I had a local guy here narrow the axle Rich @ PRE ..anybody in southeast mi ..northest ohio needs work give him a call ..PM for number
Yes that blue disc is a stripper disc for Norton ..You can buy them at home depot bout 7.00 dollars ...and all the weld are tigged ... I will update this thread when the housing gets back from powder coat and is under the car with the wheels on it ..

Dave,

Looks really nice!
Great work.

Thought you were going to use a 315 drag radial?
What gear are you going to use with the 325 drag radial?

Mike
