If you have a stock tranny and do it. The tranny won't last. If you have a stock rear and add 4.10's the rear end won't last. Period!
They both will break. Now if you take care of both of those problems, then you won't have to worry about it. Running 4.10's and an A4 yes you will run out of gear once you hit the mid 10's on spray. Ask me how I know
Running NA the 4.10's will be just right for a built motor spinning it to 6700 - 7000. A stock motor 3.42,s or 3.73's would be better. Like posted above a TC would be money better spent.

Depends on how many miles are on the trans and how well it was maintained. If it was well maintained and you put a big aftermarket trans cooler on it will last alot longer.
I learned that the hard way at about 112,xxx miles on my old car. It never overheated since I had a big enough cooler.
I went through a stock transmission and two used converters before I finally went to a new setup and couldn't have been happier. By the time you spend that money on used stuff WITHOUT a warranty you'll come out ahead buying it new and have a full year warranty from Performabuilt (If I recall correctly) on the transmission and converter package.
