Default AFCO shock settings??

Hey guys, i made it to the track last night to test my 275 drag radial car and i installed AFCO DA on the front and rear per everyones advice. The car is a 416 ci nitrous car. 82 jet and weight is between 3200 and 3300. The car looks like it is unloading the rear tires and im not sure if the front shocks are to loose on the compression stroke or the back is too loose on the rebound. ( not sure if i said that right, lol) Anyway can someone shed a little light on the settings and a good starting point. thanks

If it is unloading the tires on the initial hit, You can loosen the extension on the rear shocks a couple of clicks at a time till this issue goes away.

If it is unloading the tires a foot or two out then You can tighten the compression on the rear shocks a couple of clicks then loosen the extension on the front shocks a couple of clicks alternating between the front one pass then adjust the rear for then next pass till this issue goes away.

Hope this helps.

If you were going to set the shocks up as if it had never been run, where would you set them? (clicks) Also it has a set of Madmad travel limiters on it and i wonder if they are hurting the transfer as well. We installed them were the chains are loose until the tires are just coming off the ground. thanks

Thanks guys. I'll give you guys a call pretty soon. I'm going to have to get the car in the low 1.30 60's to be competitive in this class. It would be great to get some 1.20's out of it.

There are plenty of tuners that will be able to get you to your goals but no one will do it as fast as Madman and Co. He has a no BS direct approach from years of experience. Sure he charges a few bucks for his service but if you break it down to cost per run from fuel to wear/tear to maintenance you can't beat the deal. I'd bet his standard fee + a single day at the track and your dialed in.

It would honestly save you money and time in the long run if you pay Madman.

Over the phone tuning is a minimum of $75 per hour. It really shouldn't be any more than that, I don't think. If you were to bring your car to us, we would scale and square the car, and go to the track with you for $300. We will tune our competitor's suspensions, but if we hear or see something that we don't like, we will recommend something as a solution. In most cases, we can make it work.

On another note: If you buy our suspension parts or adjustable shocks, you will then have our tech support at no charge. ( That does not include the cost of the scale and square, if you choose to bring the car to us )

Look forward to hearing from you guys. Just give me a call or PM me here on Tech.

x2, from a cost standpoint.... Its probably a BARE MININUM of $45 bucks per pass on a normal single day track rental(assuming you can make 5 good hits). There is no way in hell I am going to waste my time dicking with the suspension on 2-4 track rentals to figure it out when I can basically take a class and learn from Brian. He will explain why stuff happens and what to do to combat it at the track. For a guy that goes to the track for fun and isn't interested in the last 10th of performance it may not be worth it but for any serious racer its almost a must.
