Default Which Transmission shiled?

I've got to get a transmission shield to cover my TH350 to be legal, and I was wondering what you guys have gone with, and what you like the best? I'm looking into the CSR "Super Shield" as it will act as a flex plate shield and transmission shield, it looks good, and I've heard its lighter than other shields. The big question however is does the CSR shield fit well on an F-body with a TH350? How expensive is re-certification?

Do a search for CSR Shield in this section. There are a couple threads on it. I plan on running one with my powerglide.

The JW bell shields from a converter explosion but the trans shield is needed to shield against transmission parts.

I used a CSR too, had to cut an ear off the trans and clearence the case but it was an easy install, as far as I can tell its got a decent amount of clearence in the car.

I was thinking the same thing. I know there are people using both. I think the shield does something the blanket doesn't and the blanket does something the shield does. Something about small shrapnal and fluid. I hope someone who knows answers.

I ran a CSR on a TH400, fit perfect. it's tight, but it will fit. Dropping the motor onto the K member to bolt the tranny up makes it a simple deal... if you have the ability to do that it will make it a very easy task.

You had to cut some of the transmission case off to fit?? What type of transmission did you have? My TH350 came without the extra casing that some do on the bell housing, is that what you're talking about? Where did you have to clearnence the case?

I had to ground the shield a little to clear the cooler lines, and around the shifter a touch... but that was just to make it easy. The case, where there's some small casting marks on the outside, if you grind them down it will hug the tranny better and not hit the floor as much/make as much noise. Believe me it's not that bad... get the tranny on the ground and put the thing on, and just rub it on the tranny a little, it will leave a mark where it needs any work. Pretty simple.

I have a CSR in my car with a TH400.

Like JL said, it's TIGHT, especially with a mid-plate, but it does fit.

My th350 had an ear on the side that sits horizontal, I cut that off and ground in front of the upper two bolt holes to get the shield to sit closer to the trans.
