Default Disappointing numbers at track

Hey, thanks for reason my post.
02 firehawk
Longtubes/borla exhaust
6.24 lift cam
C5z06 heads 102mm manifold and throttle body.. t56 viper transmission pro5.0 shifter, 390 gears..
Rockers pushrods..
Mickey thompson et streets.
My car dynod at 438 to the rear wheel.. On a dynojet. Was at great lakes dragway yesterday an my best time was a 12.6 a bit slower then I anticipated...now I do have the bilstein suspension from slp.. but my axles are stock.
My 60 foot times werent that great I couldn't get 1 faster then 2.0 I was topping out at 116 117 mph at tge end almost every time, anyone have any ideas or helpful hints that will help me hook better? all this power not as much traction as I'd like? Could a sandbag or 2 in hatch help? I really want my 60 foot to 1.8 1.9 I should be low 12's all day.
Thanks for your help

You need to work on your launch. MPH seems almost right, but the combo you posted is not optimized for drag racing.

M6 racing is tough.

Just want to ask, ET STREET DRAG RADIALS OR Regular ET Streets?
Buy some line lock and practice some launching. You may need shocks to help better control the car, i.e. Adjustible.

I mean the track wasn't all that well, u was spinning shifting in 2nd an 3rd. I mean of course that's gunna happen somewhat... I have the Mickey's et streets. I was running around 20 psi.. it was very tidious, I mean the horse power is def there. I'm just hoping practice makes perfect. I really need to improve my 60 foot, it's top priority..

MPH is low for that power level. But like other have said stick shift racing can be hard.

Make some more passes. Your times will come down.

I think your cam is probably too big. 6.24" is a huge amount of lift.

are the heads ported? what are the rest of the specs on the cam? depending on how numbers friendly the dyno jet was, 438rwhp thru a t56 and 10 bolt is gonna net you the mph you achieved. so i doubt there is gonna be a lot to gain there.
Get a line lock, practice your launches. If you are going to continue to run the ten bolt and don't want it to explode, you are gonna have to work on slipping it off the line. you can probably hit 1.7s-1.8s with practice. any more aggressive and it will probably go boom.
when you can, upgrade the rear to something much beefier, install an sfi bellhousing, and run a launch controller. set it to 6k + and have fun!

Like most have already mentioned...work on your 60' times. That's where your poor ET is coming from.

IMO..Id wait and get a rearend that can take the beating. A T/Q alone wont do anything.(or enought to justify the money spent) A good tire and good amount of sidewall is your best friend with a stick car.

Look at a MWC 9in. They come with a TQ Arm. But its pretty $$$$. I have a UMI adj. on my junker, Everything is UMI on my car. Most not all but most aftermarket TQ Arms will work on your stock 10 bolt as well as 12 bolts and most 9''s..

Hmm....... even on a 1.89 60ft on MT DRs I went 11.8s at 120 with less HP and stock shocks and springs. Your MPH is decent but your gonna have to do alot in the front half to knock off more than a 1/2 sec in the 1/4th.

What RPM did your car peek at and where are you shifting and how are you shifting?

Every .10 in the 60 is generally about .2 in the 1/4th. So you would have to cut 1.6s or better to even hit 11s and that isnt easy with a T56.

Oh and a 2-step will be your best friend!
