depends on the wheel you are using... the stud rule is depicted by the length of the stud protruding through the wheel. if you are not sure then go for the 3"

in the nhra rulebook it is stated as:

the thread engagement on all wheel studs to the lug nut, or lug bolts to wheel hubs, must be equivalent to or greater than the diameter of the stud/bolt. length of the stud/bolt does NOT determine permissibility.
( a 7/16" stud must be thoroughly engaged through the threads in the hex portion of the lug a minimum of 7/16")

Thanks for the input. I understand the rule, I was hoping for some input because I dont have the wheels to measure with.

i have 3" studs in the rear with the weld rts wheel and the open portion of the lug is almost flush with the end of the lug nut. ssvert was correct with the 3" stud but i wanted to state what the rule said.

ARP makes a 2.5 in stud which works nicely with the RTS

If you want to make sure that you absolutely will not have any problems with the tech inspection... make sure the studs are long enough so they are protruding out the end of the lugnut.

Tech inspector's like to see that, and know that you put some good ones in the car when they see that and move right along past that during the inspection when they see the studs prodruding out. No need to even look there..... and when you have several things done in that fashion, the liklyhood of having a problem goes down substantially.

I know, with street wheels it will "look funny" with the studs sticking out, but anyone that laugh's or pokes fun at that obviously is uneducated and has no valuble opinion.... generally they will probably be into :
