Question What is a good drag suspension suspension system?

Any input is appreciated. I am about to have to replace the suspension system on my car because it has so many miles on it, 154,000 to be exact. I do believe that my shocks are worn out and it also feels like the coil springs are shot. It is no longer an everyday driver and I may end up only putting around 6000 miles on it this year, so I am in the market for a drag racing suspension system. I would like to end up with something that is still somewhat streetable, but will also help me out a lot at the track.

Thanks,
Chris

My drag racing suspension (very little street time) would be this:

Madman TA, PHR, and LCA's
Some SFC's
Billingsley/Strange front shocks/springs, fresh V8 springs in back I guess
Wolfe rear anti-swaybar

If you drive more on the street I'd trade the Wolfe for a BMR and the Madman TA for a BMR Xtreme or maybe a Spohn. Also, if you don't really want double adj. shocks or don't like billingsley strange stuff, you can get HAL's too.

BUT....

Unless you really want to go extreme once and not change later, I'd say just get some fresh V8 springs front and rear, HAL's, some moly subframes, a TA that mounts to the stock points (Stealth, standard BMR, or Random Tech..or LG if you don't want adjustment), and a larger (standard style) rear swaybar. ST makes one.

Ryan has a stock suspension AFAIK

He is giving you his opinion on what he thinks works.

I personally like the BMR gear. Taner is running 1.2 sixties with full BMR suspension which is damn impressive. I had a random tech torque arm but they can break once you are in the 1.4 range with a six speed. (probably ok for an A4)

better to have a TA mount to the trans tunnel than to the tailshaft of the tranny.

What about V6 springs? How do they work for a drag suspension?

I run '95 Camaro V6 rear springs on my '02 A4 SS, along w/boxed lca's, BMR bolt-on re-location brackets, and a rt. side airlift bag. Am cutting 1.67 sixtys w/Vig 3200 and 15x8.5x26 ET drags, 3.23's and a stock motor w/c.i. stock manifolds. Also am running stock front springs and stock rear shocks. I'm thinking of stepping up for Hal's or Jay Billingsley's Strange setup in hopes of high 1.50's 60 ft times. Front swaybar has links disconnected--3550 raceweight, low 12.30's @ 110+ mph. I think w/a little more suspension and Edit work, 12.1's may be possible, along w/shedding another 60 lbs. by rear seat removal, swaybar removal, and a lightweight battery. Any suspension suggestions appreciated........WJ.

BMR extreme torque arm
BMR extreme drag bar
BMR adjustable LCA's
BMR adjustable panhard bar
QA1(hal) shocks and springs

This will be the first time with the shocks/springs but the BMR stuff has been there for 2 years now and its awesome.

My setup:
Hal QA1 shocks
Hal Springs (Front)
Stock LS1 spring (Rear)
Spohn Torque Arm w/ Driveshaft loops
Spohn Relocation Brackets
HP Motorsports SFC/LCA's/PHB
Wolfe Racecraft Rear Drag Sway Bar

Buddy of mine has nearly the exact setup and went 1.37 60ft time on 10.5 tire. I have yet to get out and hardcore test my setup out. My car should be done within a couple months. I have street tested it......

HAL "R" front w/HAL Spring
HAL rears w/stock spring
Madman Rear trailing arms, solid ends
Stock TA w/Prothane bushing

Cut 1.51's with 8.5" ET Drags @ 3550# with me.

Want to get:
Dble adjustable Front and Rears
Lower rate rear springs
Wolfe Rear Sway Bar
Madman/Spohn TA
I'll keep the stock PHR.

A4 with Yank 3,000 stall. Launching 150 shot pulls the fronts.

Last year

QA1 front shocks (450lb lowering front springs)
Stock rear shocks and springs
Hotchkis LCA and SFC
Random Tech TA
Stock rear sway bar
Air bag passenger side

Cut best of 1.50 on 100 shot; 1.64 on engine

This will be this year's set-up:

QA1 front shocks and QA1 racing springs
QA1 rear shocks and 1995 V6 springs
Hotchkis SFC
Random Tech TA
Mad Man Double Adjustable LCA
Spohn LCA relocation brackets
Still stock sway bar
Passenger side air bag

Hoping for 1.5?? on engine and 1.4 on nitrous.
