MSD 8733 2-step problem

Question MSD 8733 2-step problem

Just got this from Summit, hooked it up to my windshield washer circuit. Power wire on the washer to the blue/white wire of the 2-step, ground wire of the washer to ground. Blue wire of 2-step not connected.

Hooked up the coil harnesses, fired it up. Nothing.

Verified 12v to the power wire when switch activated.

Funny thing, with neither wire hooked up, just the coil harnesses, the LED on the 2-step is on.

Did I get a bad unit or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any tips!

what did you set it to limit at when activated?

1300, just to see if it worked in my garage.

and the instructions say you need to drop to what RPM level? reset it to like 3000 for the test...

"The LS 2-Step has a built-in rpm drop circuit that prevents the low rpm limit from activating during
gear shifts (when connected through the clutch switch). In order for the limit to activate, it must see
an rpm drop of more than 1/3 the set amount. For example, if the limit is set at 3,000 rpm, the limiter
will not activate unless it sees more than a 1,000 rpm drop."

"CONFIRM INSTALLATION
With the power On, engine running, activate the clutch or On/Off switch. If connected correct, the
LED will illuminate when the clutch is activated. To verify the rpm, set the limit at a lower rpm, such
as 3,000, and test the system. "

Thanks much for your help! That RPM thing is just to keep it from activating during shifts I believe. In any case, I got it going. not sure what was wrong, bad connection somewhere I guess. Its working now.

One thing I'm not sure about: I expected AFR weirdness but since it cuts spark rather than fuel I expected overly rich readings. I'm getting lean instead. I assume that's normal but it seems bass-ackwards. Not sure how much risk in being overly lean for a few seconds at the start of a run?

I'm trying to do this install currently and I'm a little lost on where to wire the blue/white wire to, u said the windshield washer circuit could u give me directions or even pics on where that is, and also how does it work like to turn it on and off

Oxygen from misfires, which is what rev limiters cause, show up as lean. Completely normal.

No I understand how the system works I meant if it's wired to the windshield washer circuit how do u turn it on and off? And what wires am I supposed to attach it to?
