Default setting ride height up front

I tried searching but i keep coming up with off the wall results. so new thread

I got a set of new strange SA up front and hopefully my springs will be here thursday, problem is were shootin for a track visit friday. Where would be a good place to start with compression the springs to obtain stock ride height...and as im typing this, i just realized i forgot to measure what it was before i tore everything off. Any help would be great guys.

Depending on weight, etc......I have about 6 inches from bottom of the spring to the bottom of the threads. My ride height is 26.5 I believe. Hope that helps. 3500lb with driver here

Just remember....It is a LOT easier to lower a spanner than raise one...start a little high and bring it down.

check my build thread for pics
I measuer I htink the amount of lower threads showing, and write that right on the shock, and they what the front wheel well gap was.
I htink it was around 3 5/8 was 27inch. but its huge on wheel size, weight of your car and coils. But if you see the pic I htink you could get a idea were you set you parts up.

Good advice for sure. All go higher than what you think, that way you can bring it back down. Liquid wrench will make it turn with ease!

Torrington bearing kit was probably the best thing I've ever put on an adjustable shock. I can just about turn the adjusters on the afco shocks I put on my car by hand. Couple the torrington bearing with a little bit of a good grease and it's really easy.

If nothing else, at least grease the contact point of the spring to the collar... that will make it alot easier.

Ride height, if you can get it to about 26 to 26.5 that should work. Measure the gap of the wheel well to the ground, with the tape measure running strait thru the wheel (center it on the wheel, not actually thru the wheel itself). That's about 1/2 an inch or so lower the stock, and usually is a good starting point.

Set both sides the same height, with the driver in the car, to keep things weighted correctly as well.

this is killin me. I let it all the way back down and put grease on the collar which helped alot. But i think I got all I can, its binding up like a ****....as of know the car is sittin at 25in wheel well to ground. I was planning on the track tomorrow, dosnt look so good. this thing will be impossible to get on a trailer bum...mer

My wife suprised me with the shocks for fathers day....so no bearing kit was purchased, but A++++ for thought and effort lol

I've had them get tight like that.. Ya may have to tap the spanner wrench with a hammer to get it to turn. Unless the threads on the shock body are the problem, it will go.. ya just have to put some muscle to it.

If ya were local I'd just come over and do it... but MO isn't anywhere near central CT... so sorry on that.
