Default when should i shift?

This is a question I been going back a forth with my buddy. If your car makes 600rwhp at 6000 rpm and peaks there should you shift or run it a little past so you will be at a higher rpm when you grab the next gear? Let me know what you think.

depends on how it makes power above 6000 rpm's, but normally you want to shift at about 10 percent above peak power. Mine peaks at 5200 so i shift at 5700 rpm's. At 6000 rpm's a good area would be 6600 rpm's.

But say the car peaks at 6000 and stays at peak till 6500 then slowly drops off, then you want to shift even higher than 6600 like say between 7000 and 7300.

But say the car peaks at 6000 and then drops off very hard at 6100(probably because of valve float or somethin) then you really don't want to run the engine past that right.
