Too much of this "stock internals" stuff is based on the honor system.
A nice valve job would do wonders, as well as balancing the bottom end, and bead blasting some ls6 valve springs to look "stock". Not to mention a nice torque plate honing and a better ring pack. Mixing up 241 heads with an earlier "EGR era" stock cam.
How about milling the heads .020" for more compression?

There's no IHRA certified tear-down tent at any race for this Internet "SI" class.

I'm not accusing anyone of doing this, but the things I listed, aside from the heads/cam change, would be pretty tough to point out without a complete tear down.

Really makes me wish I'd bought an ls1 instead of an LQ4. the illusion of "stock" would be so easy to pull off..

They are a little stiffer than stock, and would help out by carrying the power just that wee little bit further, which you definitely need.

More than anything, it's just an example of how loose-ended al this stuff is.

basically, getting the springs to shut the valves quicker in the upper rpm to maintain higher compression in that range. I think that is the general idea.

i dont see a problem w/ that

when i took my stock springs out at 90k when i did a cam swap i was able to compress them in my hand, also had a lifter w/ 2 chunks taken out of it and a scarred cam lol

I totally agree, but what can you do right? Thats why for my build i won't really worry about trying to break any records, or shoot for a certain time/mph, i just want to see how far i can push a stock ls1.

Just put a set of stock springs back on the car, and them shim them to about .080 to .100 from coil bind... I bet if you tested one installed that way the seat pressure would be alot better.

Then noone can complain that you're not running stock valve springs

I would agree^^^ There is no reason you cant shim them. Its all that trick little crap you can do with stock parts. Just look at stock elimnator cars.
