Default Can I run green slime in my slicks?

My slicks leak down all the time when its sitting on the trailor. I have heard you can use green slime. I don't run tubes. I think if I did I would have to put in screws because the tires move about a quarter inch on the wheel each run.

Any side effects to this?

I ran slime in my 28x10.5's last year. Driving around in the pits and got some kind of sharp metal object in the passenger side one. I didn't have a problem at all with it. You could also use permatex high tack on your tires if you don't want to use screws. If you use screws I'd put a dab of silicone on them so they're not as prone to leak any air.

Or just get tubes. Not as messy, peace of mind, and SAFER.

You don't HAVE to run tubes.

What would happen if the tire spins on the wheel with a tube? Then if you did run over some small sharp object that DID pierce the tube, you'd have to break the tire back down.

I haven't ran tubes for YEARS.

I think if the OPs car sees any amount of street time tubes are a necessity. I blindly thought running on the street without tubes was a good idea, until I hit a pothole on a bridge that blew out the slick (ET Streets) and turned my 15" Prostar into an 11" mushroom.

For a drag-only car sure, but for the street, no way!

You shouldn't be running slicks on the street at all...

Go put tubes in them. I did years ago and never leak again.

It's not 1985. No one runs tubes anymore.

Exactly. I'm gonna pretty sure the OP is running a full slick at the track ONLY or else he would have specified other wise I'd think.

Either way you don't HAVE to run tubes in slicks at the track and you shouldn't be driving slicks on the steer.
