Default First time dragracing.. 8/12

So i'm headed to the strip for the first time on friday. i've done some reading but wanted to know if anybody else had some good tips?

ALSO, i have a plug in my rear tire, should this still be okay to drag on and burnout on?

Check the stickies, as they have a bunch of good info.
On a plugged tire, its got the positive and negative. If you have any other options (swapping tires front to back, running a buddys set of slicks, etc) it would be a little safer.

Sooo i'm back from my first trip.. had 3 runs all at 13.5 trapping 105 mph.
my reaction times are a little slow for sure, besides that thouogh, are these numbers low for my mods? I have 2.73 gears as well keep in mind.

What rear tire pressure do you run to on street tires?? (nittor 555R)

m6 or a4? what was the DA? What was you 60'?

I would think the car should atleast be in the high 12's if your m6 and cut a decent 60' but since it has 2.73's im guessing its an a4 and should be a little quicker. Get some gears and a converter in it(if my a4 assumption is correct) and go back.

Looking up the DA it was 1415, my first pass i don't care, it was a 13.7 first time on track.. the next three were all 13.5

Best time:

RT: .341
60' 2.117
1/8 8.852
1/4 13.504 @ 105.37

It is an A4 with stock converter on 273's with 275 tires up front and 315's in the rear putting 334hp to the ground

I still feel like I should be in the high 12's?

I went 8.62@84mph and 13.23@106mph with a 2.03 60ft. Mods in my sig. The DA for me that day was only +199ft.. Get some seat time and times should improve. Do you leave TC on or off if your car has it..Where do you leave it at D or OD

It's in D the whole time, no traction control on this car I can leave the line at a little higher RPM for sure as I"m not spinning off the line at all right now.

Even still guys with 2.73s such as yourself with less mods are faster than my car by a decent amount, just bothered by what I have into it with not much back

I have seen my best results leaving off Idle and leaving it in OD. For some reason my car is faster in OD instead D..

that might make sense actually, by my guess by putting it in OD it causes it to go through the gears quicker. By being in D i BARELY get into 3rd by the time i cross the line.. take a listen:

My car shifts in to 3rd right at the finish line. I still had my stock 245x50x16 and stock snowflake wheels. My car only put down 309 HP to the wheels. This fridaynight I added 275x50x15 DR's and skinnys on the front and my car slowed up. Then I put the stock wheels on the back and it pickup .15 and 1 mph..

I don't have LT's but my car came from the Factory with the LS6 intake. I have all the Free Mods and I had weight reduction. Spare tire and jack and I had my front sway bar off and brackets.. That's 52 pounds Here is what my time slip looked like..

660ft-8.62
MPH-84.09

It could be the DA and track prep. I have only ran 1/4 mile one time.
