need help, bad 60' i really need help. i got a 98 z28 m6, the only mods are lid and custum duals. I dynoed a 315 rwhp and 335 rwtq. my problem is traction but cant afford new tires now. get this my 60' time are at best a 2.4 and i'm running 13.9 to 14.2 in the 1/4 my mph is usually always 107. the tires a falkens, they arent wore that bad but i spin all the way to about 70 mph. I have been told by people that have drove my car that it would easily run 13.2's. any advice on how to get 60' times down, that is what i think is really killing my times. thanks

usually coming out at 2000 rpm and shifting at 5700. thats my max hp and tq point. i know its my 60' cause i have race a 13.7 mustang on the street and smoked it, and from a 40 roll a s/c 5.0 and he barely pulled on me. that same weekend i watched him run a 12.4. i think alot of it is being at the track. it makes me nervous and i try not to be. i tell myself i'm going to do one thing and end up doing another.

You are in the same boat as I am. You need some new rubber out back. I am getting steady 2.2's in the 60' and 13.2 witha trap of 109 mph in my C5 with MN6 tranny. This is all with leaving the line around 1500 rpm. I am on the bubble between Nitto's and Goodyears F1-GSD3's. The tire change along with the new B&M ripper will hopefully get sub 2's and well into the 12's. Good luck.

You should shift higher too. Post your dyno sheet and someone can figure out exactly where.
You shouldn't shift exactly at your peak, but a bit higher, probably at redline if you're mostly stock, 6200 RPM (6300?) or so.

Oh yeah, get rid of the stock shifter and get an aftermarket unit. I have noticed a world of difference. One other driver at the track gave me a suggestion, that was to try to ease into the throttle at a steady rate. The time that worked best for him was about 2 seconds from launch to full throttle.
