Default Can i get away with 4:56s and lots of spray?

I have 28" M/T slicks. I am spraying 200 and will be going to 300. I have a M6 would I run out of gear I am shifting at 6800-6900 on the scan with my limiter currently at 7200.

Would 4:56 mean I end up in 5th?

It all depends on the MPH you are tuning in the 1/4. You can run 132mph in 4th gear at 7200rpm. It just depends on what kindof mph you are going to trap.

Hope that helps.

Crap I am already trapping at 124 mph on a 100 shot. I bet the 200 or 300 shot would put me over that.

Is 5th gear weaker? I have heard it is not good to shift into 5 th beacause it is not as strong?

Shifting into 5th gear will equal instant T56 death. 5th gear just can't handle that kindof load. You will probably have to step down to a 4.30 gear. I would give it a shot and see what happens. If you run out of gear then just let off and coast the remaining few feet of the track. You are going to be very close to being able to run it out.

FWIW, my buddy ends up having to shift into 5th on 100 shot, with 4.56's & 28's.

I am not risking it. It's 4:11s for me

It would be a game playing with tire height and rear gearing and in the end, the engine can only spin so much given then the valvetrain, cam, and rotating assembly.

I was thinking 4.30's or step down to 4.10's and go to a MN12 trans and see if you can do it that way. Your overall gear ratio will be better for the first 3 gears, and still have 1:1 for 4th and get the best of both worlds and still stay on 4.10's
