Studderin yes. Its rated stronger than the strange steel DS.

Ya I started researching and it seems the PST yoke have lots of problems.

IIRC, MW told me that it was a heat treated forged steel piece, that he then machines down to the final product. They told me that alot of people think it is billet because of the way that it looks, but it is not. They also told me that this yoke was good for over 2000 hp, same piece they use for pro mod cars.

Agreed. I looked for a billet one but could only find pinion yokes in billet. The best slip yokes seem to be 3150.

Hey guys, just a side note about MW yokes... I have seen and tried just about every high end yoke on the market over the years. I recently had a conversation with Transmission Specialties as I am a Dealer for them. I was told they had a new yoke that competes with MW. Now, this is big tire, big power heavy hitter Powerglide stuff... but that doesn't matter when we are talking safety.

I brought the new TS yoke in and compared it to a MW yoke I had in stock at the time. There was about 0.0015" difference in the OD and the splines were too tight for my taste as well when I fitted it on a shaft. I would run it in a light bracket car that made less than 1k h/p. But, in my opinion there is only one yoke to run in big power, heavy car combinations and that is Mark Williams.

I don't endorse too many companies or too many products, but I will when it comes to safety issues. Stick to MW and you will be happy to did in the long run guys.

Thanks for the info Gilbert! Glad I made the right choice. The old PST was very tight on the splines from the get go & was always a pain in the *** to remove and replace the DS.

MW Yoke slips on and off the output like butter. Doesnt appear to be any damage to the trans. Time to press in the the u-joints and get it back together.

Glad to hear the trans is ok. The yoke is definitely NOT the weak link now! What kind of ET's are you running?

Well its gone 11.6@120 on motor with a lousy 1.68 60ft. Then I changed a lot up(as in put lots of money into it) and have been having issues ever since. Now it has a 200 shot in it but havent made a clean pass yet though. FTL

I hear that. I didnt weigh them but it was A LOT lighter which was the main reason I switched them .

I havent got it off the ramps yet but I surely will take it easy for the test drive. I did jack up the rear to spin the tires and dont hear anything goofy and the pinion spins good with the tires and the Output was spinning with the car in gear. But like you said you never knw till ya drive it.

I twisted the **** out of my PST yoke when I was running N/A. Couldn't 60' better than a 1.85-1.9. Slapped in a new strange chromemoly yoke and viola 1.6 60's again

If the yoke is twisted, would you be able to feel it? As in would it bind when backing up?

I've been feeling a binding when I back up lately but only if the wheel is turned all the way one way or the other and once all the slack is taken up. It feels like the solid tq. arm mount doing it as it makes the same noise/feeling when I go over a big bump in the road. But hearing all these threads about the yoke twisting and not being able to 60' any better is making me think mine is twisted. And my tranny has been leaking a little and I haven't been able to find where it's been coming from.

Would the solid mount(metal to metal) slip/bind if it got wet with tranny fluid?

When I twisted my first one it popped the seal out of the back of the yoke and only leaked pulling up on the trailor and hard launches. But it never had a binding feel to it I just had to beat the ds off with a hammer.

I had to do that with the PST brand new. I can never recomend one after that. Has me wondering if the yoke was my problem all along.
Im just waiting on the new UMI TH350 cross member to show up then the trans can go back in.

I have never heard anything good about PST's yokes. Might be a great driveshaft, IDK because i don't have one, but they should really stop offering the crappy yokes. I can't say much for the strange driveshaft that I had either, looked good, vibations and noise like crazy though. The Mark Williams chromoly shaft and yoke are great though. Cost like $630 but is money well spent IMHO.

AC- This sucks, I was really hoping to see you run better with the radials and T56. But hopefully this solves your problems anyway. Best of luck

Thanks. I was going to try it out but it is what it is. Car should put down some good numbers now though. Im excited and depressed at the same time. Also got some Kirkey Pro Street seats and my short block shoud finally be ready for pick up on wed. Things change fast around here, but the plan is to leave the current motor in for the rest of the year.
