Default Will it hook?

I have a 99 ss with cam/full boltons 9 inch (4.11's) and 6 speed.I am going to the track sunday for the first time after the 9 inch swap and plan to launch it as hard as the track will allow. My only concern with hooking is the car is lowered with Eibach sportlines. It has Weld RT's on it with 325/50/15 MT drag radials on the back. The suspension stuff I do have is:
Subframe connectors
lower control arm relocation brackets
aftermarket lower control arms
UMI TQ arm and TQ arm relocation
Sphoon 25mm rear sway bar

Will it hook well being lowered with the Eibachs? I plan on leaving pretty hard if it will hook up. Just curious on your thoughts.

Probly not, Eibachs and using a drag radial on a m6 probly wont work very well. A bias ply tire would help greatly.

If you got a 6k clutch dump do not expect it to do anything else but spin. You will probably see more bogging once you find your limit.

Will throwing a set of stock springs on the back for the track help?

Probably not, even if you re adjust all the adj suspension points. The Drag Radial does not slip enough to keep the RPM's up.

There is a "sweet spot" but when you start making cam only power it really becomes a on/off switch.

You should be able to put up an ok time, just do not expect that this is the best the car can do. Also I hope you have line lock as with those tires its really needed to get them heated. Another issue i learned long ago with that tire.

Yeah I will get them hot. I plan on putting a 28x10.50 on it soon. These drag radials came on the wheels so I figured I would atleast give them a shot.

Do I need to do some coilovers or something or willwheels changing to a slick do the job? I really don't have the money for coilovers but I want it to leave right too.

A stock shock if you hook well on a ET Drag Bias ply should have the body slamming on the rear which is another issue but again you have to see how the car is acting before deciding the next part that needs to be ordered.

If you want to hook you will probably need a bias tire. Especialy with the rest of your set up working against you.

If you want any chance of it hooking do a fast slip from about 5000 rpm. Don't do a clutch dump just kind of a smooth release with out slipping too much. You need to get the tire in motion before you release all the power to it, once it's in motion it may have a chance to hook. If you shock it too hard it won't have a chance.

I plan on shallow staging on a full tree. As soon as 1st yellow comes on I will get the clutch to its engagement point where it starts to grab and creeps the car forward. This will take all the slack out of the drivetrain and most of the shock off everything. As soon as the 3rd yellow light comes on I will release the clutch pretty quickly. I am going to start at 3K and go up until it wont take anymore. We shall see.

Well finally went to the track today.
3k - hooked and bogged 2.0x 60 ft.
3.5k - hooked and bogged 1.9x 60 ft
4k - broke lose and spun to 60 ft a little 1.79 60 ft, 7.671 at 93.3
4.5k - huge burnout and lower pressure to 15 psi. hooked hard and broke the driveshaft

Best pass previous to today was with the 10 bolt at 7.95 at 93 so I was happy where the times where going. I believe with a launch around 5k will net a good 60ft and a solid 7.5. Now I have to save up for a driveshaft.

Dont be scared to launch it higher, do a good burnout & dump it at 5500. I bet it hooks. I had problems getting my (275 40 17) DR car to hook too. Bought a 2-step & couldnt even launch off it cuz I would just spin. 1.9-2.1 60 times at best babying the launch. Everyone says its cuz I need a bias ply tire. After hearing that I was thinking what a waste this 2 step was when I cant even launch with it. The problem was the track I was running at, poor track prep. Went to 2 different tracks with great prep & been dumping it at 5500 off the 2 step all day both places with DRs at 15 psi. Last night at Milan pulled low 1.6s most of the day, best 60 times ever for me(1.61 PB) so 2 step was working well glad I got it. Mine is lowered too, I did put my rear LCAs to the bottom hole in the axle housing bracket.

Awesome. Yeah I plan on launching higher once I get the new driveshaft. My control arms are in the bottom hole too.
