Very cool for the unibody guys. I was hoping they would allow me to weld a cage to the body without cutting a hole through to the frame on my car. Reading that sounds like that is a no go.

Uni-body can bolt in with a top and bottom plate,4-3/8"bolts per point min.,door bars can be swing-out and crossing between elbow and shoulder, cross bar welded to main hoop....all as stated above.

Full frame cars need welded to frame (or frame stands) also as stated above.

You might get away without one once or twice though

Doug, thats what Im using on my 8-point CE cage. I was just wondering if using those and a Grade 8 bolt, would be NHRA legal or not.

wolfe weld in, lows.
I had a bolt it and loved it with stock seats still. I like them better the swing outs. zfriends cars with them the T pin gets in the way. After a few times getting over a door bar is easy, if your not fat.

Because you mentioned adding a funny car cage to it which makes me assume you're planning a 25.x upgrade. The added time and expense for the conversion on what looks to me like an illegal side bar would suck. Verify what you have will certify before going through with your add-ons.

I didn't install the cage TRZ did the work. It was built with the intent of upgrading to a 25.3 in the near future. It has the start of the funny car cage behind me along with all the other stuff that's hard to upgrade. I'm waiting on another car to get done so the tech from NHRA can come down and certify mine an a couple of other cars. Hopefully it certs lol.

hey studderin, are you seats attached to the cage in any way or just bolted to the floor? Just curious cuz I kno most bolt them (kirkeys) to the cage but I dont see anything besides the harness in the back.

Have any NHRA techs given you any grief over this bar being below your elbows?

That's good ... I was curious, because I am planning to do the Wolfe bolt-in next year with the low slung bars too, but I am not sure if the NHRA techs are ok with the bar not meeting mid way between the shoulder and the elbow as the rules say. I do know that Wolfe does say they are NHRA legal.
