Default Questions about moving to a slick

Looking to shed more weight out of my car. Do I need to run a tube with a slick?

depends on race weight and tire pressure.
I'm at 3350 with driver run low 11's @122 mph any thing less then 15 psi the car moves around alot on the top end. Been told if I add tubes I could drop the pressure and still be some what stable on the top end.

Good to know. I should be around similar race weight, et, and mph.

I would look at the Hoosier radials over a slick. They are very light weight and far more stable then a slick.

I believe they were 8#'s lighter each then my M/T in the same 275/60/15 size.

Hoosier Radial 24
Hoosier Slick 27
ET Street Radial 33!

I really don't want to mix and match bias ply in front, radial in back though. All these weights are based around a 28x10.5x15 size.

Radials in the rear and biasedply on the front get along fine. Its the other way around that can act squirrely on ya.

There are 0 issues with bias on front and radials in the rear. There are thousands of cars that run that way.

Thanks Larry. Looks like I'm going with the Hoosier Radials.

no problem

They do tend to wear fast, but they are a killer tire which many 275 racers use with great success.

good luck

Stiff walls? I've been as low as 12psi and I don't have any sway. My guess is I'm 3600lb race weight @ trap 123.
